The Reader Post – January 13th

Last week I tried doing this section weekly and I liked how it turned out. It also allows me to gather more info. However, in order to avoid this being too jampacked with information, I will only be mentioning the news, if you want to find out more about them, I have included the sources, where you can check everything out.

These are all news from last week, from Monday 6th to Sunday 12th.


BOOKISH NEWS

Before going into our news, I want to mention something that is equally exciting, and also important: all our prayers have been answered: Goodreads has added a reread feature! I still cannot believe it, I’m so happy about that! Let’s all take a moment to appreciate it.

Cover Reveals
  • Lauren DeStefano’s new book, The Glass Spare, which is her first fantasy, has a cover (source)
  • The third book in the Descendants series, Return of the Isle of the Lost, also has a cover (source)
  • A new edition of 13 Reasons Why is being published due to Netflix’s adaptation of the novel (source)
  • Jodi Meadows’ new book, Before She Ignites, has a cover (source)

 

TV NEWS

Release Dates
  • During the Super Bowl, Netflix aired a promo for Stranger Things 2 and also unveiled the date for its premiere: October 31st
  • Attack on Titan revealed the synopsis and poster for its second season. They also gave us a release date: April 1st, 2017
  • We have a date for the fifth and final season of Orphan Black: June 10th (source)
  • Netflix has developed an adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, called Anne, which will premiere May 12, 2017
  • Orange is the New Black season 5 will premiere June 9, 2017
Renewals/Cancellations
  • The OA, another original Netflix series, has been revewed for a second season (source)
Others
  • As some of you may already know, Ascendant, the last movie of the Divergent series, or the second part of Allegiant, was cancelled and instead is being adapted for TV. Now, Shailenne Woodley, who played Tris, confirms she is not going to be on the television show (source)
  • Tahereh Mafi, author of the Shatter Me trilogy, had a couple of news to share about the Shatter Me adaptation to the small screen: she already has the screenplay for the pilot, which Mike Le has written (source)

 

MOVIE NEWS

  • The Super Bowl offered us another trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, along with a new poster for the movie
  • Also from the Super Bowl, we got a new trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales, this time with Johnny Depp in it, and a new poster
  • Blair Redford has been cast as a mutant in a X-Men TV show for Fox (source)
