Cover Reveal: Warcross – Marie Lu

Marie Lu had warned us that yesterday we would get the cover reveal for her upcoming book Warcross and, here it is:

I’m still  not sure what to think of it. I like how all of her books have the same cover style and this is symbolic and fits the plot of the story but maybe it’s too much. I’m getting used to it now but that’s what I first though. Maybe if her name was different or the colours weren’t so vibrant, but that may be the point. It’s nice that the four words at the bottom are getting smaller and smaller, which goes with the shape of the title. I’m sure, however, that it will look different on paper. And I bet those letters from the title have a cool touch.

Warcross comes out October 3rd.

For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy. Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.

Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of. But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire.

What do you think of the cover? Will you be picking this up? Have you read any of her other books?

People said some harsh stuff about her cover today. People were saying it looked like something they designed in 1st grade, something made in Microsoft Word, etc.
I kinda like it. It’s growing on me, especially bc of the colors. I’m sure there’s a reason behind it, you know? And I’m tired of the abstract colors and flowers: this is very techie, very utilitarian, very electric.
I wouldn’t mind it on my bookshelf, lol.

Maybe they will have a different cover in the UK or in paperback, so you could chose 🙂 I’ve only read Legends but I’ve heard great things about her other books. This one sounds awesome, can’t wait to read some reviews 🙂

I have read the Legend trilogy and is by far in my top 3 trilogies of all time! 🙂 This cover, though, hmmm. If I randomly see it in a bookstore and not knowing that it’s written by Marie Lu herself, I honestly wouldn’t even think of picking it up. Like you, I think the colors were too much for me. They seem to take away the mystery in the plot. 🙂 Anyway, hoping for a great story here! 🙂

I only read Legend, I should finish the series at some point 🙈
Seeing how much you love Legend, I’m sure you will enjoy this one too, and I agree with what you said. Also, the cover is so eye-catching, and even if you didn’t know it was by her, you would once you saw the cover, it’s impossible to miss.
Curious to see it in physical form 😉
      Thanks for stopping by ❤
